What makes a Christmas gift truly special?

Perched high above Lake Lucerne, Bürgenstock Resort Lake Lucerne has unveiled its 2026 holiday programme, A Handmade Christmas.

This year's celebrations focus on the time, care and personal touches behind handmade gifts. The programme brings together traditional Advent wreath-making, hands-on creativity, seasonal cuisine and moments of relaxation, all inspired by Swiss craftsmanship and the joy of spending time together.

A Handmade Christmas: Celebrating Swiss Traditions

Creative masterclasses take centre stage this festive season.

At the resort's Spycher, guests can make their own traditional Advent wreath while enjoying a glass of Champagne. Other activities include painting a winter landscape on canvas and joining a pottery workshop, complete with a personalised apron to take home.

In December, a torchlit walk leads through the winter scenery towards the Hammetschwand Lift before returning to Taverne 1879 for mulled wine and roasted chestnuts.

Guests can also decorate a miniature Christmas tree and bring their creation home as a seasonal keepsake.

Festive Dining and Winter Wellness

On Christmas Eve, Oak Grill & Pool Patio will serve a special four-course menu featuring seasonal ingredients cooked over an open fire. Verbena by Christian Scharrer will offer an elegant holiday dining experience.

On Christmas Day, Salle Palace will host a celebratory brunch featuring Marennes oysters, lobster cocktail, Eggs Benedict and Beef Wellington, followed by desserts created by Executive Pastry Chef Damián Carini.

For a little relaxation between celebrations, Bürgenstock Alpine Spa will offer the myBlend Restorative Glow Facial, while the Waldhotel Spa's Private Spa Suite provides a peaceful retreat for two.

New Year's Eve brings special menus across five restaurants, followed by live music and a DJ-led countdown in the Lakeview Ballroom.

A Festive Stay Above Lake Lucerne

For those wishing to stay a little longer, the resort offers two specially curated packages.

Legendary Christmas includes a stay of at least two nights, a decorated Christmas tree in the suite, a Champagne welcome and a private cinema experience with festive treats and a Christmas film of choice.

Meanwhile, A Winter Getaway combines a minimum two-night stay with an excursion into the snowy mountains. Depending on snow conditions, the experience includes a journey by 4x4 vehicle or snowmobile, followed by snowshoeing through the winter landscape to a local farmhouse, where guests share lunch with the farming family.

Both packages include breakfast, access to Bürgenstock Alpine Spa, transport on the Bürgenstock funicular and the MS Bürgenstock catamaran, along with early check-in and late check-out subject to availability.

From handmade decorations to shared meals and mountain traditions, the programme celebrates the simple pleasure of spending time together.
