Floral tableware, kettles and toasters in calming hues—Laura Ashley’s kitchen collection brings beauty to both everyday cooking and the table.

Beauty food is about more than nutritional knowledge and recipes. A kitchen that makes us want to cook and tableware that inspires us to plate each dish with care can be just as important.

After all, the environment we create around food plays a meaningful part in shaping our everyday eating habits.

The Laura Ashley Story Began at a Kitchen Table

Laura Ashley

Laura Ashley has been one of Britain’s most cherished lifestyle brands for more than 70 years. Its story began in 1953, in the small Pimlico flat shared by Laura Ashley and her husband, Bernard.

Inspired by an exhibition of traditional Women’s Institute handicrafts at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum, Laura had the idea of printing her own patterns onto fabric. The couple began with little more than wood for a screen-printing frame, dyes and a small quantity of fabric—an initial investment said to have been just £10.

Laura created the designs, while Bernard taught himself printing techniques using books borrowed from the library. Together, they hand-printed each piece of fabric at their kitchen table. The tea towels, napkins and placemats that emerged from that modest setting became the foundation of Laura Ashley.

The brand’s romantic prints—drawing inspiration from nature, the British countryside and Victorian ornamentation—gradually found a devoted following. From those early textiles, Laura Ashley expanded into fashion, interiors, furniture, wallpaper and tableware.

Delicately drawn flowers and leaves, softly nostalgic colours, and designs that balance tradition with everyday living have become hallmarks of the brand. Yet their purpose goes beyond simply decorating a room. They express Laura Ashley’s enduring belief that beauty can make the time we spend at home feel more comfortable, personal and inviting.

Given that the Laura Ashley story began at a kitchen table, today’s tableware and kitchen appliances feel like a natural continuation of the brand’s origins. Botanical motifs once printed onto a single piece of fabric now appear on plates, kettles, toasters and slow cookers. The products may have changed with the times, but the desire to bring beauty into everyday life remains.

Laura created the designs; Bernard found a way to bring them to life. Imagining the two of them gathered around their kitchen table, working together to create something new, brings a certain warmth to their story.

Cooking a meal, setting the table and sharing food with family or someone special—within the world of Laura Ashley, these simple, everyday moments have the power to feel just a little more extraordinary.

When Florals Take Their Place at the Table

The Amilia Floral collection includes dinner plates, side plates, pasta bowls, a cake stand and floral-print canisters.

Blue-green botanical motifs unfold across a soft cream background, adding character without overwhelming the food they frame. Even a simple arrangement of fresh fruit or a plate of homemade biscuits can give the table an entirely new mood.

A meal begins long before the first bite. Choosing the right tableware and taking time to set the table can make sharing food—whether alone, with family or with someone special—feel all the more rewarding.

When Kitchen Appliances Become Part of the Décor

The kitchen appliances come in a palette designed to sit beautifully within the home, including Sage Green, Dark Slate and Cotton White.

The Sage Leaf jug kettle and four-slice toaster pair a muted green finish with polished chrome-effect detailing. Far more than functional appliances, they help define the mood of the kitchen—and are designed to be seen.

For those drawn to florals, the Wild Meadow collection includes a dome kettle and a generous 6.5-litre slow cooker. Ideal for soups, stews and other dishes that benefit from being cooked gently over time, the slow cooker brings both beauty and practicality to the worktop.

On busy days, it offers an easy way to prepare warming meals with vegetables, beans and other nourishing ingredients. Simply add what you need and let time do the rest.

A Beautiful Setting Can Change the Way We Eat

When we think about beauty food, our attention naturally turns to what we eat. What surrounds us matters too. A kitchen that draws us in—and tableware that makes us want to present food with care—can make thoughtful eating habits easier and more enjoyable to sustain.

The Laura Ashley kitchen collection is about more than choosing individual appliances or pieces of tableware. It brings the kitchen and the table together in one beautifully considered vision—from the space where food is prepared to the moments shared over a meal.

Bringing home a few pieces we truly love might just turn cooking from a daily obligation into something we can begin to look forward to.
