Are You Seeing People Through Your Own Image?

We often, without realizing it, decide who someone is before truly seeing them.

They must be this kind of person.

They probably think this way.

It isn’t cruelty.

It’s simply the mind trying to take shortcuts.

But the moment we do that, we stop seeing the real person.

We pick up fragments of someone’s words and build a story.

We layer past experiences on top of the present.

Sometimes we project our fears, values, or old wounds onto the person standing in front of us.

And then we react—not to them, but to the version of them we created in our minds.

That version isn’t real.

People are far more complex than any label.

Quieter than we assume.Constantly changing from one moment to the next.

They don’t fit neatly into the boxes we make.

We learn and grow from the events of the day.

If lately you’ve felt:

  • misunderstood more often

  • judged without being heard

  • too tired to explain yourself

it may not be that you’ve changed.

It may be that you’re no longer accepting other people’s projections.

Try seeing people as they are.

Pause before judging.Allow uncertainty.

Let what you don’t know remain unknown.

Relationships become quieter that way.

And more importantly, so do you.

When you stop seeing others through your own image, the world softens a little.

Today, try meeting someonewithout deciding who they are.

That is enough.

This simple shift also helps your work move forward more smoothly.
