You may have heard of the term “sixth sense,”but when it comes to feeling better in everyday life, the answer is much simpler.

It starts with your five senses.

Have you ever felt like this?

“I’m just tired.”“I don’t even know why, but something feels off.”

In busy daily life, it’s not always easy to escape into natureor take a long break.

But even a few minutes at homecan make a difference.

By gently engaging your senses, you can help your mind and body relax.

The connection between your senses and your brain

Brain

Your five senses—sight, smell, taste, touch, and sound—are not only there to detect danger.

They also help you feel safe and comfortable.

When your brain is tired, your senses tend to become dull.

But when you stimulate them in a gentle way, your brain can begin to relax again.

1:Sight — Give your eyes a break

Candle

Sight plays a major role among the five senses.

That’s why looking at the sky or into the distancecan feel refreshing.

At home, a simple way to relax your eyesis to watch a candle flame.

The soft flickering light is known to have a calming effectand can help you slow down.

2:Smell — Reset your space

Smell

Smell has a direct connection to the brain.

Natural scents, such as essential oils, are especially effective.

Rather than strong artificial fragrances, gentle and natural aromas tend to be more relaxing.

You can also use incense like sage or hinokito create a calm atmosphere in your space.

3:Taste — Enjoy with balance

Taste

Eating what you like is important, but balance matters too.

Choosing seasonal ingredientsor lighter options can help you feel both satisfied and comfortable.

Herbal teas and Japanese teaare also great for creating a relaxing moment during the day.

4:Sense of touch and Brain Activity

Skinship

Did you know that many baby products are soft?

This is because it is said to be soft and calming. Just changing to comfortable pyjamas or underwear may change your mood a little.

Choose bed sheets and towels that are as soft as possible, and use them as a place to settle down.

Bathing also applies to this one. You can get a considerable relaxing effect by adding a scent to the hot water in the bath.

Even if you change the showerhead to something that reverses to soft water or put Himayara rock salt in the bath, the hot water will become smoother.

A scalp massage that is closest to the brain effectively relieves fatigue of the brain. This is why it is easy to fall asleep when you massage your body or head.

5:Sound — Listen to quietness

Music

Sound is another powerful way to reset your mind.

Music works well, but sometimes softer, natural sounds are even better.

The sound of water, birds, or windcan help your body slow down naturally.

You don’t need anything special.

Just a few minutes, and a little awareness of your senses.

That alone can help you resetand feel more balanced.

In the middle of a busy day,try giving yourself a small moment to pause.
